It’s not just the organiser’s age category… 😉

51 entries for race number 1 at Looe as online entry came to a close last night, what a great turnout!

And it’s still not too late to enter: entries on the day are possible but with +40% added to the entry fee.  However, if you contact the organiser Andy Parritt (see the Eventbrite Page) in advance with your details and the category you would like to be entered under then, he has kindly agreed to allow entries at the online entry price!

The present entry list shows Epic ruling the roost with at least seventeen boats on the start line, including six V8s, meaning competition will be hot even at the slower end of the fleet. Unsurprisingly, the next most numerous is Fenn with twelve, followed by local manufacturer Icon with five Genesis skis.

The remainder of the entry is split between Carbonology (3 boats), Stellar (2 boats) and a Knysna G42 Double, while Allwave will have at least three Outriggers on the water. This still leaves eight entrants who are keeping their boat choices under wraps…

On the club front, Bradford on Avon and Fowey River look like they will be putting the most paddlers on the water with seven apiece, while Wey, Bristol and possibly Exeter will be fielding three each.

Unsurprisingly the largest entry category is the Masters, but there are a good number of Veterans to keep them on their toes, as well as the encouraging sign of an equally large number in the Under 21 / First Timers. The Women’s single ski fleet only numbers two at present but, there are female paddlers in both the OC division and the three boat Doubles fleet.

So if you haven’t entered yet, get on it! Even if you don’t have a boat Rob at Kudu Kayaks and Glenn at Oceansports may still have boats available for hire.
