The Epic Bay Ocean Race is a challenging and fun ’round-the-buoys’ race suitable for those new to racing on the sea and experienced racers.
The course will be a triangle, longest leg aligned with the waves and an offset mark to keep those paddling upwind clear of those surfing back down!
There will be a mass start for each craft – water start (knee depth) and finish.
If the surf conditions are large then there will be a deep water start.
It will be 3 laps for the fastest paddlers, all others will finish on the lap they are on when the Surfski leader completes 3 laps.

Surf Life Saving GB have had new insurance terms imposed upon them, so day membership is no longer available to us for surf ski races. You will need to join SLSGB for the year either through a club (£varies) or direct (£25).
You must enter your SLSGB membership number into the race entry form, so please have that ready. After joining online you’ll get an email within a few days containing an ‘e-membership’ card that has your membership number on it.
Further details on the insurance changes and GBOS’ position within the two NGBs are available elsewhere on this website.
